Please note that in order to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the European Union, all examiners must provide a copy of the picture page of their passport along with a copy of any work permit for those requiring a permit.
Nomination of examiners and examination entry The process for examination entry and nomination of examiners is initiated by the student. In summary these are:. An examiner who is a member of QMUL staff may be appointed up to three times during a given academic year. Please use registered post or equivalent to post your thesis. The outcome will need to be ratified by the Research Degrees Progression and Examinations Board which is held once a month.

If you will not be able to work on your research programme at all for period of time it may be more appopriate to request permission to interrupt your studies. The following two options will be considered by the Research Degree Programmes and Examination Board:. There are eight possible outcomes:.
Examiners must contact tuesis Research Degrees Office if they are contacted by the candidate, or if they receive a copy of the thesis directly from the candidate or supervisor. After the viva, your examiners will inform the Research Degrees Office of the outcome. At thesks one examiner should have experience of examining for a research degree in the UK, and the examiners should have examined at least five research degrees of the same or equivalent level between them.
Examiners are required to complete the Outcome of Examination form indicating which of the available decisions they have made and write a joint report giving the grounds on which their decision is based. A student and their supervisor should discuss the appropriate timing of examination entry and the nomination of examiners to read the thesis and conduct the viva voce examination before the student completes their part of their form and before submitting your thesis.

The examiners are informed if this is the case. The examiners should exchange thesos preliminary reports with each other before conducting the oral examination and send copies to the Research Degrees Office after the examination has been completed.
The Research Degrees Office will authorise any incidental expenses as soon as possible after receipt.
